All of this was inspired by my own deep-seated Election Day anxieties (do you remember 2016?), a love of warm cookies and this quote from “Ghostbusters:” I tried to think of the most harmless thing. Something I loved from my childhood. Something that could never-ever possibly destroy us.”
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be baking many varieties of chocolate chip cookies, from thin and crispy to bourbon-pecan—one a day to distract us until Election Day. Let’s bake together, share our cookies with voters waiting in long lines or reward people who’ve just voted. And/or hide under the covers, out of range of the news, with a book, a glass of milk and some warm chocolate chip cookies.
